Who is Marcus Jake

Marcus Jake is a British Contemporary Artist, born in 1971.  He completed his BA in Fine Art at UWE, Bristol in 2016.

Jake works in a variety of mediums, mixing traditional with modern techniques, creating visually unique and arresting artworks.

There is a very distinct modern feel to the work, yet you also get a sense that there is a connection to the Early Renaissance and Romantic art movements.

The main themes of his work centre around connection, conflict, change, growth. He has the ability to take on tricky emotional subjects and through them, show the vulnerability, beauty and strength of what it means to be human. He does this without shying away from the parts that make the whole, showing that there is no light without dark.

The goal it seems, is to create art that celebrates the bravery and courage from the path that we walk, both in connection and individually. To then entice the viewer in, to question whether their own connection to the piece is real and creating a dialogue between the art and the viewer.
